Pick up five stitches on a third needle.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Knit until reaching the needles that has the five picked-up stitches. On that needle, SSK, K1, SSK. Now 9 stitches in round.
Continue knitting each row until thumb is two inches.
Last row: SSK 4 times, K1.

Finishing
Weave in ends
For the cast on 2 stitches for thumb can I just m1 twice in the round? My cast on mid project always ends up sloppy just wondering if the cast on is for just making up stitches and the m1 will work?
